Rachel and I decided to start this blog as a collection point of our thoughts, lessons learned, and stories. Our hope is others will enjoy our musings and maybe even learn a thing or two along with us. In an age where the average American is less connected to the wild and the earth than ever, we want to see good values and ethics in the woods prevail. We love the hunt and all aspects of wildlife in the west. Our home base is Bozeman, Montana. My favorite hobby is chasing elk with my bow. Please enjoy.
Hello and thanks for reading our stories. My father got me addicted to big game hunting, my uncle got me hooked on fishing. I now go salmon, steelhead, tuna, fishing with my father in law. I love to snowmobile, dirt bike, wake surf and hunt waterfowl with my brother. I like to hike, scout and shed hunt with my family. My wife and I were blessed with a baby boy in April 2018 to go along with our 2 year old border collie Hank and 5 year old labrador Daisy. I am super excited to motivate Eli's outdoor interest. Right now he is an excellent live weight for pack training. After college at the University of Idaho I took up a career as a project manager for Boeing in the Puget Sound.
As a young girl, I spent many hours exploring "the canyon" outside our house. It was there that I felt free to learn, to enjoy, and to imagine. Years later, I love to get outside any way I can, and I am still filled with wonder and gratitude like when I was little. My favorite parts about it are all the surprises that you would miss if you stayed home--a silent great gray owl, an intense sunrise, or trillions of stars that make you feel small in a beautiful way. In my working time, I am a Registered Dietitian and Strength and Conditioning Coach, and that's pretty fun too.
